In contrast to when ‘abundance’ produces culture, what kind of culture will people enjoy in an age of shrinking societies? A multitude of specialists, all participants in a Nichibunken collaborative project, set out the issues. The volume also carries a record of the exhibition “Evidence of, and Messages from, a Shrinking Society,” which was held at Kyoto International Manga Museum.
