It was not that I was more far-sighted or near-sighted than before. My vision began to grow dim. It was getting increasingly difficult to see the books on the higher and lower shelves in libraries and bookshops.

I went to see my doctor, who told me I had cataracts. Well, I suppose this is simply a return to how things were in my youth.

After the operation, I returned home. I looked in the mirror I have in my house. For a second time I was amazed. There, reflected in the mirror, was the pitiful face of an old man. Spots and wrinkles were plain to see. I was devastated to think that this is the kind of old man I’ve become. The restoration of sight is a mixed blessing.

[23
post-2363","messages","type-messages","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","message_category-serialization-en
["GET
